"Nshima" -Zambian main food

For tens of millions of Zambians, Nshima is a basic staple in their lives. According to different regions, languages and dialects, "Nshima " called different. In the eastern provinces of Zambia, people refer to "Nshima " as "Chewa," "Tumbuka," and "Ngoni." In northern Zambia, people in Benoba called "Ubwal; the Tonga in southern Zambia is called "Nshima"; the western part of Zambia is called "Buhobe." In Africa, not only Zambians eat "Nshima" but also sub-Saharan Africa Countries like Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, the Congo and South Africa have similar eating patterns.

"Nshima" is usually cooked with corn flour. In the yellow and white corn, Zambia likes to eat white corn flour. They cooked "Nshima" as an art: when do the corn flour into the water boiled into porridge, and then the appropriate add some flour to the right consistency, with a little time on the small fire stew. Place in a pan after cooling.

Eat "Nshima" often with two dishes: one is with meat, fish, beans, peanuts and other stew stew, another for vegetables such as cabbage, tomato, onion, pumpkin leaf vegetable production. Make the dish with soup.

During the meal, people sit in a circle around the table, wash hands with a basin of water, or wash their hands with a large pitcher of water to the guest or the elderly. When eating, squeeze a small piece of "Nshima" with your fingers and make a small ball in the palm of your hand and then dip it into your mouth. Traditionally, the elderly should wash their hands before eating, and then the elders should wash their hands before they eat.

"Nshima" is relatively cheap, although the price of corn is rising.Most people can afford it, so "Nshima" is a popular food for common people in Zambia.
